Nash Format (original name is «Наш формат») is a publisher based in Kyiv, Ukraine. First formed in 2006, Nash Format[1] is present in almost all segments of the Ukrainian book market and publishes prose fiction and non-fiction such as business, economy, psychology books, memoirs, essays, and motivational literature. Currently, the main line of the publisher's activity is business literature designed to form a new Ukrainian elite and to change the nation's general mindset. The company also provides a number of other cultural projects aimed at creating new ideas, meanings, values and initiatives — thus placing Ukrainian cultural revolution at the forefront of thought, turning ideas into reality.
Nash Format has an extensive distribution network encompassing more than 800 sales outlets throughout Ukraine. The publisher also has its two own bookshops. In total, Nash Format quickly went from a print run of just 16 000 in 2013 to roughly over 194 500 copies in 2016.
Books published
Nash Format has issued more than 100 Ukrainian translations: “Atlas Shrugged” by Ayn Rand, the most influential trilogy of the coming of age literature; “Long Walk to Freedom” by Nelson Mandela; “Brain Rules for Baby”, the bestseller of a developmental molecular biologist John Medina; “Zero to One: Notes on Startups, or How to Build the Future” by Peter Thiel; “Contagious: Why Things Catch On” by Jonah Berger; “Why evolution is true” by Jerry Coyne; “Rethinking Positive Thinking: Inside the New Science of Motivation” by Gabriele Oettingen etc.
The first books of Nash Format[2] were published in cooperation with our partner publishing houses, in particular, Lee Kuan Yew’s memoirs “Singapore Story: From Third World to First” (2011). The publisher has been actively providing publications since the end of 2012.
One of the most popular books by Ukrainian authors that were published by Nash Format is the nationwide artistic and cultural project of Antin Muharsky “Swindlerology” (Zhlobologia;2013, 2015), which describes the phenomenon of “swindling” through the perspective of famous (in a way, even scandalous) Ukrainian artists and scientists.
Since 2014 the publisher set about translating the world bestsellers. The first edition of this series was the book “Great By Choice” (2014) by the American business consultant Jim Collins, then “My life and work” by Henry Ford ensued. The latest Ukrainian translations of the world bestsellers published by Nash Format are as follows: "The Black Swan" by Nassim Nicholas Taleb, "Capital in the Twenty-First Century" by Thomas Piketty, "Why Nations Fail" by Daron Acemoglu and James A. Robinson, "Civilization" by Niall Ferguson etc.
For each paperback or hard copy of book the company also produces e-book versions that can be purchased on the following sites: Наш Формат, Google Play, iTunes, Bookland, Smart Kyivstar.
