Nachiketa (born Bengali: নচিকেতা চক্রবর্তী Nachiketa Chakraborty) is an Indian Bengali singer-songwriter and composer who is known for his modern Bengali lyrics and natural mode of singing. He achieved fame in the early 1990s, with the release of his debut album Ei Besh Bhalo Achi.[2]
Early life
He started composing and performing as a student of Maharaja Manindra Chandra College in North Kolkata,Shyambazar, an affiliated college of the University of Calcutta.[3] In 1993 his first album Ei besh bhalo achi was released; it was an instant hit. At the initial stage he had a huge youth fan following, but gradually he has touched listeners from all age groups. The colloquial language immediately hit the stagnancy of Bengali music in the early 90s. Following the path of Kabir Suman (the then Suman Chattopadhay), Nachiketa changed the age-old concept of Bengali lyrics.
