The NWA Canadian Heavyweight Championship was the top singles title in Maple Leaf Wrestling from 1978 until 1984, when it was abandoned after the Toronto promotion partnered with the World Wrestling Federation (WWF).[1] The title was reinstated as the present-day, NWA Board-controlled version of the NWA Canadian Heavyweight title.[2] Previous versions also existed in Calgary, Halifax and Vancouver. Has been defended in the World Wrestling Federation.

Tony Baroni, was in his second reign. He defeated Ethan HD, King of the Yukon, and then-champion Nelson Creed on March 15 in Vancouver B.C. at Pacific Cup 2014. Artemis Spencer beat Tony Baroni. Ethan HD defeated Artemis Spencer. Mike Santiago defeated Ethan HD. Andy "The Dreadful" Bird defeated Mike Santiago, Bishop, and Nelson Creed on January 14th, 2017 at Ballroom Brawl 7 at The Commodore Ballroom.
