NUVO is a Canadian quarterly lifestyle magazine founded by Canadian entrepreneur Pasquale Cusano in 1998. NUVO publishes entertaining, informative, high-quality lifestyle journalism—focusing on luxury interests in Canada and the world. The Lainey Gossip blog described it as "a throwback to the way a magazine should be and feel, with the time and the resources to make each issue something to be devoured slowly."[1] NUVO is also a member of Magazines Canada and is audited for circulation by the Canadian Circulation Audit Bureau (CCAB). MONTECRISTO (magazine) is its sister publication focusing on Vancouver, British Columbia.
Editorial Content
Soon to enter its 20th year of publishing, NUVO covers Canadian and international culture with features on travel, celebrity profiles, business, fine arts, design, food and wine, film, music, and more. The spring 2017 issue features the world's best chef Massimo Bottura.
Past cover stories have included chef Anthony Bourdain, environmental activist David Suzuki, actors John Krasinski, Michael Shannon, Sophia Loren and Sandra Oh; fashion designers Alice Temperley, Jean-Paul Gaultier and Michael Kors; designer Karim Rashid, authors Bret Easton Ellis and Ian McEwan, architects Peter Marino and Moshe Safdie, singer-songwriter Nelly Furtado, polo player Nacho Figueras and artists Ai Weiwei and Marina Abramović, among others. NUVO has also featured the column Scalawags that was compiled into a book by writer Jim Christy and published by Anvil Press.
NUVOmagazine.com is a digital extension of the printed NUVO, featuring new web-exclusive content daily and an archive of over nineteen years of print stories.
Circulation
NUVO distributes 50,000 copies per quarter to Greater Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, and Calgary and is audited by the Canadian Circulation Audit Bureau (CCAB).
Awards
NUVO excels in the prestige media marketplace and has been awarded editorial and printing honours including the Silver National Magazine Award for Best Still-Life Photography, The Benny for Best Printed Magazine in North America, the Silver Medal Ozzie for Best Cover Design, among others. NUVOmagazine.com was also a finalist in the New York Folio: Eddie Digital Awards, in the Consumer Website-General Interest category.[2]
