NRG eSports is an esports organization based in California. It has rosters in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Overwatch, Smite, Hearthstone, For Honor, Rocket League and Vainglory as well as a number of streamers on the Twitch platform.

History

The team was founded by Gerard Kelly and Sacramento Kings co-owners Andy Miller and Mark Mastrov[1] in December 2015.

On March 18, 2016 the team announced that Alex Rodriguez, Shaquille O'Neal and Jimmy Rollins were joining as investors.[2]

On August 3, NRG signed the members of the former Overwatch team Luminosity Gaming.[3]

The Super Smash Bros. for Wii U player Nairoby "Nairo" Quezada joined NRG on August 23, 2016 after he left Team Liquid.[4]

On September 1, NRG acquired defending Smite World Champions team Panthera.[5]

On October 1, NRG acquired Rocket League team Kings of Urban.[6]
