NBRC-WRE

The NBRC-WRE (National Board for Respiratory Care Written Registry Examination) is an examination for the advanced credentialing of previously certified respiratory therapists in the United States.[1]

Maintenance and administration

The NBRC-WRE, like the NBRC-ELE and NBRC-CSE is maintained and owned by the National Board for Respiratory Care.

Registry Examination System

The Registry Examination System was developed to objectively measure essential knowledge, skills, and abilities required of advanced respiratory therapists, and to set uniform standards for measuring such knowledge. The CRT credential is a prerequisite for admission to the Registry Examination.

Economy

The NBRC-WRE examination costs $200 USD with a $50 USD application fee and is administered by PSI.

Post-nominal identification

Those who are actively certified as a registered respiratory therapist are permitted to use the post-nominal letters "RRT".
