The North American Film Awards (NAFA) is an annual award ceremony to honor talents in Malayalam films and excellence for Hollywood, Bollywood and Tollywood, presented annually by the Houston-based company Freedia Entertainment.[1][2]
The first ceremony (NAFA 2016) was held in July 2016 at the Tilles Center for the Performing Arts in New York and will be followed up by a ceremony the following year in New York City and Chicago.[3][4] The second edition of North American Film Awards (NAFA 2017) was held at Bronx Lehman College in New York on 22 July 2017. [5]
The winners were selected through an online voting among the North American Malayalis.[6] The film Maheshinte Prathikaaram bagged maximum number of awards in 2017. Apart from the Best Movie Award, award for new sensational heroine, best comedian, debut director, screenplay, music director and cinematographer categories also were bagged by this film. [7]
