Mystacodon is a genus of toothed mysticete from the Late Eocene of Peru. It is the earliest known member of the Mysticeti, and the second confirmed Eocene mysticete.
Phylogeny
Mystacodon is recovered as basal to other toothed mysticetes and Llanocetus, the latter which is more closely related to toothless mysticetes (Chaeomysticeti).[1]
