Mysore Ananthaswamy (ಮೈಸೂರು ಆನಂತಸ್ವಾಮಿ)was one of the pioneers of Kannada Bhavageethe in Karnataka.[1] He was a very popular composer and singer of Kannada Sugama Sangeetha. He composed many poems and bhavageethe of well-known Kannada poets like Kuvempu, K S Nissar Ahmed, N S Lakshminarayana Bhatta, etc, and popularised them throughout the world. Some of his most famous songs include:
Jai Bharatha Jananiya Tanujate (Karnataka state Anthem or Naadageethe), Nityotsava and Yede tumbi hadidenu.
His son, Raju Ananthswamy, after his father's demise carried forward Ananthaswamy's legacy not only by popularizing his songs but contributing his own original compositions. Unfortunately, his career was cut short by his early death due to cirrhosis contributed by alcoholism.
