Muthoot Pappachan Group (MPG) is an Indian business house headquartered in Trivandrum, Kerala, India. The company has the slogan 'Believe in Blue',^[1] and ecompasses several businesses, including financial services, automotive dealerships, hospitality, real estate, health care, information technology, precious metals and alternate energy. The business was started in 1887 by Muthoot Ninan Mathai.^{[2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9]}

Corporate history

The company has been in operation for 130 years. Initially, the company mainly supplied wholesale goods to the estates owned by in the region.

Currently the group has 20,000 employees working at 3,800 branches in India.^{[10][11][12][3][13][14]}

• Muthoot Pappachan Chits: Muthoot Pappachan Chits is a separate company formed by the group as per the Chit Fund Act 1982, India.
• Muthoot Capital Services Ltd: Muthoot Capital Services Ltd (MCSL) is the first listed entity of Muthoot Pappachan Group. A Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) listed on both BSE and NSE, MCSL offers financial solutions including Vehicle Loans (2 wheeler loans). The company is credited with many innovative schemes, including the “Ladies Only” scheme for financing women for purchase of two-wheelers at concessional terms.^[19][20][21]
• Muthoot Housing Finance Company Ltd: In 2014, the group entered the affordable housing finance arena through a subsidiary – Muthoot Housing Finance Company Ltd (MHFL). MHFL caters mainly to the housing finance requirements of customers in the middle and lower income category.^[22]
• Muthoot Microfin Ltd: Muthoot Microfin Limited is the microfinance arm of Muthoot Pappachan group (MPG), established in 2010. Muthoot Microfin Ltd. was granted NBFC-MFI license by RBI in 2015.^{[23][14][24][25][26]}
• Muthoot Risk Insurance Broking Services (P) Ltd: This division of the group is associated with insurance solutions.^[27]

Precious metals

• Muthoot Exim precious metals division specializes in developing and marketing of precious metal products and services.^[23][14]
• Swarnavarsham Gold Jewellery allows customers to own hallmarked gold jewellery (2 to 8 grams) in instalments.^[26]
• Swethavarsham Silver Articles and Jewellery sells hallmarked silver coins, bars, and articles.^[24]
• Muthoot Gold Point, which buys scrap, old and used gold items directly from end customers.^[25]

Information technology

Automotive

• The Muthoot Pappachan Group has dealerships of Ford Motors, Jaguar, Land Rover, Range Rover, Honda cars, and Yamaha and Honda two wheelers across the Calicut, Ernakulam, Kollam, and Trivandrum districts of Kerala.^[29]

Hospitality

Alternate energy

• Muthoot Alternate Energy Resources started a Wind Energy Project in 1993 with wind farms located in Muppandal village in Kanyakumari district, Tamil Nadu.^[34]

Global operations

• Muthoot Pappachan Foundation: The Muthoot Pappachan Foundation is the non profit arm of the Muthoot Pappachan Group. Muthoot Pappachan Foundation is partnering with Magic Bus to implement its Sport for Development programme in Trivandrum and Ernakulam districts of Kerala.^[35][36][37]
