Museum of the Future (Dubai)

Museum of the Future is a technological museum in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

History

It was announced in March 2015, and will actively produce futuristic inventions and contribute to UAE's mission to be a global innovation center which is scheduled to open in April 2019. It will also house an incubation center for new inventions along with the museum of prototyped ideas.^[2]

Saif Abdullah Al Aleeli was appointed as CEO of the Dubai Museum of the Future Foundation, through a resolution issued by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. ^[3]

Concept

The museum's motto ‘See the future, create the future’ is in line with the new approach towards innovation. This museum, rather than just displaying exhibits or publishing reports, will use design, technology, prototyping, and foresight to create real examples of change. The museum is the first of its kind, and represents a leading example of entrepreneurial governments embracing change and creating futuristic visions for a better world.

The museum will also be the permanent home for the world’s greatest innovations, which will work to stimulate and incubate imaginative solutions to the challenges of future cities. As an integrated environment, this museum will bring together researchers, designers, inventors, and financiers from across the world together under one roof. Creatives and entrepreneurs will test, fund and market their ideas for futuristic prototypes and service.^[4]

The Museum of the Future is a unique initiative by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, that explores the future of science, technology and innovation based in his statement that “The future belongs to those who can imagine it, design it, and execute it. It isn’t something you await, but rather create.”, which perfectly defines what The Museum of the Future is all about.
