Murat Maikeyev (Kazakh:Мурат Майкеев) is a Kazakh Military leader and the current Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan.[1]
Biography
He was born on November 9, 1959 in the Aktobe Region of Kazakhstan. He entered the Soviet Army at age 21 and attended the Alma-Ata Higher All-Arms Command School in 1980. In 1994, he attended the Frunze Military Academy in Russia. In September 2003, Maikeyev was appointed commander of the Airmobile Forces of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan.[2] In March 2010, he was appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan. On June 28, 2014, Maikeyev graduated from the Military Academy of Belarus.[3]On September 15, 2016, he was appointed Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan.[4]
