Mundka is a census town and village in West district in the Indian state of Delhi. Mundka is the birthplace and village of former Chief minister of Delhi, Late Dr Sahib Singh Verma. The current MLA of the Mundka constituency is Sukhbir Singh Dalal, an AAP candidate while BJP lost this for having been won two times from here.
Demographics
As of 2001 India census,[1] Mundka had a population of 43,898. Males constitute 56% of the population and females 44%. Mundka has an average literacy rate of 78%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 75%, and female literacy is 65%. In Mundka, 16% of the population is under 6 years of age. This village comes under 8th no Assembly of Delhi.
Accessibility
The Mundka station of Delhi Metro rail started from 2 April 2010, Mundka to Inderlok. The 15.1 km corridor benefits thousands of people in the national capital's west and northwest area. The corridor, also called the Green Line, connects Inderlok (on Dilshad Garden—Rithala line) and Kirti Nagar (on Dwarka – Noida City Centre / Vaishali line). It is 22 km from Connaught place (Delhi) and 10 km from Bahadurgarh (Haryana).[2][3] The village lies adjacent to Swarn Park.
Recent developments
The constituency has been in the news for its very poor infrastructure, despite having a popular metro station near by it. The streets become small drains and sewers overflow in just a matter of a few minutes of rain. People believe that Mundka is one of the most corrupt constituencies in Delhi as there is no basic infrastructure present.
The village has its own community centre, library,Parks- Dr. Ambedkar park, bhagat singh park, guga park, sangusar park, and Govt Primary school and high school. It is also a central point for aeronautical colleges and Delhi Metro Depot. Moreover, this is a village of Delhi State.
Dr. Ambedkar - Mera Swabhimaan is a well known social organization in Mundka and organizes many motivational, social programs throughout the year.
The biggest occasion of Mundka is Dr. Ambedkar's birthday (14 April) and the largest roadshow of the west Delhi is organized by the Mundka people. Thousands of people take part in this.
Dada Bhero Temple is a well renowned temple in the village.
