Muhtarophis is a monotypic genus of snakes in the subfamily Colubrinae. The only species M. barani is endemic to Turkey was discovered in 2015.[1]

Etymology
The generic name, Muhtarophis, is in honor of Turkish herpetologist Prof. Dr. Muhtar Baþoðlu.
