Mucoromycotina is a subdivision of Fungi of uncertain phylogenetic placement.[1][2] It contains 3 orders, 61 genera, and 325 species.[3]
Parasitic, saprotrophic, or ectomycorrhizal (forms mutual symbiotic associations with plants); asexual or sexual reproduction; branched mycelium; contains 3 orders that represent the traditional Zygomycota.[4]
It includes the orders Endogonales, Mucorales, and Mortierellales.[5]
Mucoromycotina includes many of the model Zygomycetes. It includes many rapidly growing species. Most are saprobes, plant pathogens, and mycoparasites. Some induce human mycosis.
