Morgan Spector is an American actor, best known for his portrayal of Frank Capone on the HBO series Boardwalk Empire.

Life and career

Spector was born in Santa Rosa, in Northern California, and grew up in nearby Guerneville.[1] He acted for the first time in community theater at the age of 8; and later acted in high school and college productions.[2] After graduating from Reed College, in Portland, Oregon, he enrolled in the acting school of the American Conservatory Theater, in San Francisco, and then pursued work in regional theater, including a tour in The Lion King.[2] He moved to New York City in 2006.[2]

In 2010 Spector made his Broadway debut as Rodolpho in Gregory Mosher's revival of Arthur Miller's play A View from the Bridge  a role he was unexpectedly called upon to play (having originally been cast in a bit part, as a longshoreman) when the actor scheduled for the role was injured during previews.[2] In 2012 he played the role of Boris, in The New Group's Off-Broadway production of The Russian Transport, by Erika Sheffer.[2]

In 2014 he co-starred with Rebecca Hall in a Broadway revival of Sophie Treadwell's Machinal. Later, after he and Hall married, they again appeared together on stage in New York, in Clare Lizzimore's play Animal, in June 2017.[3]

Personal life

As a child Spector won third place in the California Jr. High State Spelling Bee in 1993. Through extensive speech therapy, he was able to overcome a pronounced lisp by the 7th grade. He spent the summers of 1995 and 1997 working as a park aide at Armstrong Woods State Reserve in Guerneville.

In September 2015 Spector married actress Rebecca Hall, whom he had first met the year before, during their work together in the Broadway play Machinal.[4]

Morgan is a dedicated supporter of the San Francisco Giants.
