Morgan Fritz-Ward (born September 14, 1993) is a former American professional ice hockey player for the New York Riveters of the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL). Fritz-Ward served as the alternate captain for the franchise until her retirement during the 2016/17 NWHL season.
Career
During college, Fritz-Ward played for Quinnipiac University in the National Collegiate Athletic Association between 2011 and 2015. Fritz-Ward captained the women's ice hockey team during her senior year.[1][2]
During the inaugural NWHL season of 2015/16, Fritz-Ward played for the New York Riveters as a forward and was voted in by fans to play in the league’s All-Star Game. She was an alternate captain for the franchise from 2015/16 until her retirement.[3] In early 2016, Fritz-Ward was one of the first players to sign contracts with the New York Riveters for the 2016/17 NWHL season alongside Madison Packer, having signed a $15,000 one-year contract.[4]
Fritz-Ward announced her retirement in December 2016 in the wake of substantial player salary cuts by the NWHL.[5]
