Mitch Lyons was elected to the Michigan State University Board of Trustees for an eight-year term that began January 1, 2011.[8] At 3:26 a.m., on January 31, 2017, in response to comments by the university's President, Trustee Lyons tweeted "An 'impediment to quality, connectivity, and inclusiveness' at MSU is a terrorist blowing himself up on campus."
