Apostolic Prefecture of Xinjiang-Urumqi

The Apostolic Prefecture of Xinjiang-Urumqi is a pre-diocesan missionary Latin jurisdiction of the Catholic church in southwestern China's vast region East Turkestan, which is exempt, i.e. directly dependent on the Holy See and its missionary Roman Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, not part of any ecclesiastical province.

It borders on Kazachstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tadjikistan (all three Ex-Soviet West Turkestan), Afghanistan, Pakistan/India-disputed Kashmir, Tibet, Han-China proper (notably the Archdiocese of Lanzhou) and (Outer) Mongolia.

Its episcopal see is the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, in regional capital Urumchi. 43°47′17″N 87°37′18″E / 43.788139°N 87.621722°E / 43.788139; 87.621722Coordinates: 43°47′17″N 87°37′18″E / 43.788139°N 87.621722°E / 43.788139; 87.621722 No statistics available. [1]
