Miss Uzbekistan is a national beauty pageant in Uzbekistan whose winner would participate in the Miss World international pageant.

Controversy over the title of "Miss Uzbekistan World 2013" erupted when Ganieva Rahima, a resident of Tashkent, claimed the title.[1] She began taking part in Miss World 2013 for Uzbekistan. She claimed that the Miss Uzbekistan 2013 pageant was held on 20 July 2013 in Tashkent. Supposedly the contest included three levels: introduction in national costumes, catwalk in cocktail dresses and catwalk and interview in evening dresses. Officials at the Uzbek Culture and Sports Ministry and the National Committee on Women stated that the country never held a contest.[2] And the university that she claims to attend has no record of her.

History

In 2013, Rakhima Ganieva was the first Miss World contestant to represent Uzbekistan.

In 2018, Uzbekistan is also set to be the first Uzbek to participate at the Miss Universe.
