Misr lel-Makkasa Sporting Club (Arabic: نادي مصر للمقاصة الرياضي), or Misr, is an Egyptian football club based in Fayoum, Egypt. In 2009–10, it gained promotion to the Egyptian Premier League from the Second Division for the first time in its history. The club was formerly known as Hweidi Club and then El Fara'na (a.k.a. The Pharaohs), before it gained its current name.

History

Name

Misr Lel-Makasa used to be called Hweidi Club.[2] But for a short time, it became known as El Fara'na (a.k.a. The Pharaohs). Eventually, it gained its current name when it was sponsored by MCSD (Misr For Clearing, Settlement & Central Depository).

Football record

After few attempts, Misr eventually gained promotion to the Egyptian Premier League from the Second Division in 2009–10 for the first time in its history. It earned promotion after a 2–0 win against Wadi El Gedid FC at home ground.[3] Misr Lel Makasa came top on its group ahead of Telephonaat Bani Suweif FC.[4][5]
