Biography

She started dancing when she was 5, and at 11 years old was chosen to be a backup dancer for Thailand's most famous singer, Thongchai McIntyre. She has been in Thailand's dancing industry ever since.[1][2][3]

In 2009 Mint participated in a cover dance contest in "Snowy Korea", an annual Korean festival in Thailand.[4][5][6][2] She showed her exceptional dancing skills and was noticed by JYP Entertainment and GNG Production.[7][8][9][2] She chose to be with GNG, which is how she started her career in Korea.[10][11][2][12]

She started off with Tiny G with four members: J.Min (leader, main vocals), Mint (rapper), Dohee (lead vocals) and Myeong Ji (main rapper, sub-vocalist).[2][13] A representative from Tiny G's agency introduced them, “Tiny G is a four-member girl group with an average height of 153cm.[14][2] Although they are petite, they are a hip hop group who can bboy."[2] The name "Tiny G" is a combination of the English words "tiny" and "giant".[15][2] The representative explained, "They are short, but will present music of powerful feeling to separate themselves from the many other girl groups."[16][2]

Before their debut, the group appeared on MBC's show Show Champion on April 24, 2012 and performed the track "Polaris", which singer Jay Park and actress Lee Si-young had made for them as a gift through MBC's Music and Lyrics.[17][2] The instrumentation was composed and produced by Cha Cha Malone and Jay Park. The song "Polaris" and was released on May 5.[2] After Music and Lyrics was broadcast, Tiny-G became the number one searched term on many Korean search engines.[18][2]

Their debut single "Tiny-G" was released on August 23, 2012,[19][2] along with the music video.[20] They made their debut on M! Countdown with "Tiny-G".[21] The group released their second single, "미니마니모 (Minimanimo)" on January 21, 2013.[22][2] The music video was released the same day.[23][2] On June 13, 2013, the group performed an OST for the game Dragon Nest titled "Here We Go".[24] On October 1, 2013, they released their third single, "보고파 (Bogopa, Miss You)". [25][2] The music video was also released the same day.

On March 12, 2014, DoHee and J-Min performed an OST for the drama 앙큼한 돌싱녀 (Angkeumhan Dolsingnyeo, Cunning Single Lady) titled "케미 (Kemi, Mirror Mirror)".[26][2] On June 27, GnG Production announced that MyeongJi was leaving to focus on her acting career. They released a statement saying, "MyeongJi expressed that she wants to officially go into acting to expand on her passion that she's had since her child actress and CF days... MyeongJi's leave was decided on after discussing it fully with the agency and Tiny-G members, and we respect and cheer on her decision."[27][2] Tiny-G came back as a trio on July 3 with the song "Ice Baby".[28][2]

On November 2, 2014, it was revealed that Tiny-G would be debuting their first sub-unit under the name of "Tiny-G M" featuring members J.Min and Mint.[29][2] Promoting mainly in Thailand, the sub-unit released their first single, "The Only One", featuring Thai artist Natthew.[30][2] The music video was released on November 25 and featured appearances by Natthew and Tiny-G member Dohee.[31][2] On February 10, 2015, GNG Production announced that Tiny-G was going into an indefinite hiatus.[32][33] Do-hee will continue as an actress while Mint and J.Min will continue as singers.[34][35][36][2]

Mint was a guest actress in the Thai series Plerng Tawan which has aired since August 31, 2015.[2] She was a guest in the short series Zeal 5.[2]

On April 7, 2016, Mint has signed into a new agency, JSL COMPANY.[37][38] On April 14, 2016, Mint has released its first solo single 'Already Go Lady (Ulleri Ggolleri, Already Go Lady)' under a new stage name 'Mintty'.[39] The music video was also released the same day.[40]
