Ministry of State Owned Enterprises is ministry that oversee the development of state-owned enterprises in Indonesia. The ministry is headed by a minister of state owned enterprises, who is responsible to President.[1]
History
Ministry of State Owned Enterprises can be traced back to Department of Finance. Ministry of State Owned Enterprises was Second Echelon of Department of Finance at 1973-1993, which promoted into first echelon at 1993-1998. In 1998, Department of State Owned Enterprises was created, but relegated under Department of Finance as First Echelon at 2000-2001. In 2001, Department of State Owned Enterprises is re-promoted and changed into Ministry of State Owned Enterprises at 2009.[2]
The development of state-owned enterprises was on Direktorat Persero dan Pengelolaan Keuangan Perusahaan Negara, which is a Second Echelon Unit in Department of Finance. This unit was called also Direktorat Persero dan Badan Usaha Negara and Direktorat Pembinaan BUMN. This unit was promoted into First Echelon Unit as Direktorat Jenderal Pembinaan Badan Usaha Negara in 1993. In 1998, this unit was promoted into a Department and headed by minister-rank official Menteri Negara Penanaman Modal dan Pembinaan BUMN/Kepala Badan Pembinaan BUMN.[3]
