Min Kyung-hoon (Hangul: 민경훈; born October 6, 1984) is a South Korean singer. He is the lead vocalist of the band Buzz. His first solo album, Im·pres·sive, was released on December 5, 2007. His second solo album, Picnic, was released on June 27, 2011.[1]
Activities
Audition-related and trainee days
1. During his childhood, Min Kyung-hoon never thought of being an entertainer. His dream was being a professional gamer, in the third grade of high school, he was recommended to audition for a company. Min Kyung-hoon went to the audition without serious thinking or consult. The company made a side agreement and heard his song. The company liked his song.
2. Min Kyung-hoon worked in a group of people who liked singing during his high school days. When Kyunghoon was younger he noticed that being a singer who sang in the cafe near Han River suit him better rather than being a famous celeb singer. Then, at the recommendation of his school friend, He auditioned for AYON Entertainment, (which was the first agency of Buzz) in a karaoke room. He then recorded songs under the same agency and became a singer.
He signed a contract with a late spring company in 2002, and focused on singing and giving up sports and school. Min Kyung-hoon joined Buzz in June 2002 as a vocal. Buzz's members practiced instruments together for two years. Min Kyunghoon, been added later to Buzz, had to stay up all night and practice his vocals without a break. had been formed before. After underground activities, Buzz was able to make a official debut as a band one through their album "Morning Of Buzz".
2003-2007: Buzz activity days
Buzz made their official debut with "Morning Of Buzz" on October 11, 2003. In their third album "Perfect", the song "Confusion about men" was well received. On May 17, 2007, Buzz disbanded temporarily due to the members' military service. Min Kyunghoon was confirmed to continue solo activities while the members are serving the military. On June 2007, Buzz released their last single, "Love Is My Heart, Part 2".
It is Min Kyung - hoon played a big part in making Buzz a popular band because of his good looks. He was also called a member of an Idol group.So he had more pressure and more workload than the other members. Min Kyung-hoon was appreciated by people not only for his appearance but also for his singing ability. At that time, Kyunghoon was very popular among high school students with both male fans and female fans.
2007-2012: Solo activity
Min Kyung-hoon released a solo album again with the advice of Buzz members and the solicitation of his former agency. December 4, 2007 with album "Im · pres · sive" he made a solo debut. The album was not well praised and was not that popular. Until 2009, Kyunghoon and Buzz took a hiatus. During the hiatus, he released a digital single, "Day," but it did not work out well.
On February 4, 2010, the mini album "Reunion" was announced officially. The title song "I Love You" is one of the most popular solo songs. Kyunghoon released his digital single "It's Alright" (March 29, 2010) and the soap opera "My Life Is Beautiful" OST <My Eternal Love>, but there was no follow-up activity. In October and November 2010, he participated as a guest vocalist by singing his digital single "Wounded" and "Buzz 2" album "Fuzz-Buzz".
On June 27, 2011, he released His 2nd album "Excursion", but he did not see any big success. It was an album that had a lot of new attempts such as changing the existing songs of Min Kyung-hoon's rock ballad. However, Shin Jung-hwan's controversy about the gambling in the Philippines and the controversy over the entry of MC Mong that involved him had an adverse effect on the album promotion. Because of the controversy, the existing fan base left the fandom and the sales was lower than the previous album.
2012-2013: Military life
In March 6, 2012 after his Digital single "coming back" he suddenly went for military service. Considering he was 29, which is the marginal age for support for active duty in military, he had to go to the military.
He joined the Uijeongbu 306 supporters and served for 21 months. He conveyed a message to his fans throughhis agency saying, 'I wanted to be quiet and I am sorry to inform you of the sudden enlistment, and I will be doing well.' While Min Kyung-hoon was serving in the military band, he performed military band performances and concert train performances. He noticed many soldiers liked him and knew him and realized that he had many male fans. On December 5th, 2013, Min Kyung Hoon finished his military service and fans and Buzz members gathered and congratulated him.
2014-present: Buzz re-union and variety show
Because of the solo activities, the possibility of reunion was opened, and Min Kyung-hoon's picnic concert showed a positive response to the reunion of Buzz, including performing with Buzz members. On April 8, 2014, Min Kyung-hoon returned to Buzz's vocals after being discharged from military.
The digital single "Summer of the Eight Years" and "Train" did not react well, but the event was hot to Buzz. On November 26, 2014, Buzz's 4th album "Memorize" was released.
In December 2015, he joined JTBC's new variety show, Knowing Bros, as a cast member along with comedians Kang Ho-dong and Lee Soo-geun.[2]
