Micropterix rothenbachii is a species of moth belonging to the family Micropterigidae that was described by Heinrich Frey in 1856.[2] It is known from Italy, Sicily, Austria, France, Switzerland, Germany, Croatia and Slovenia.[1]
It inhabits light, dry and somewhat rocky, mixed beech forests, where it occurs in open places, mainly with natural cover such as brambles and grasses.[3]
The forewing length is 3.6–4.6 millimetres (0.14–0.18 in) for males and 4.5–5 millimetres (0.18–0.20 in) for females.
