Microland is an Indian IT Services company headquartered in Bangalore, India.[1] It was founded by Pradeep Kar in 1989 as a Network Integration Company with an initial funding of ₹2 million from SBI Capital Markets Limited. Microland assisted in the introduction of new technologies to the Indian market, namely, Compaq, Cisco, SynOptics, and Netscape.[2]

After the advent of the internet economy in 1998, Microland built several companies such as Planetasia.com, indya.com, ITspace.com, media2india.net and Net Brahma Technologies.[2]

The company employs more than 3,600+ professionals across its offices in Europe, Middle East, North America, and India.[3][4] Microland portfolio of services includes Hybrid IT Transformation, Workstation Transformation, Service Transformation and End-to-End Infrastructure Management. It is the first Hybrid IT infrastructure provider in India.[5]

History

Microland was started in Bangalore, India in August 1989 with a key focus on Hardware and Networking.[6][7] In 2005 Microland signed a strategic alliance with Serco Solutions, UK, for providing Remote IT Infrastructure Management Services (IMS). Microland inaugurated a dedicated operations center for providing Remote IT Infrastructure Management Services (IMS) to remote locations.

On January 14, 2005, Microland raised $7.3 million in funding from investors like SYNNEX, JP Morgan Partners, and ICICI Bank.[8] In August 2006, Microland received $11 million in the second round of funding raised from Cargill Ventures, Intel Capital, Trident Capital, and JAFCO Venture.[9]

In early 2007 Microland inaugurated its first multi-network operations center facility housing six network operations center, six tech labs, four data centers and one penetration testing lab. In December 2007, Microland expanded its operations in Bangalore by opening the global technology support center in Bangalore.[10][11] In April 2007, Microland partnered with Microsoft to provide Cloud solutions to large enterprises in India.[12] In 2008, Microland expanded its service lines through the inclusion of Managed Security Assessment and ITSM Consulting to its portfolio.[13]

In 2011, Microland signed a multi-year contract valued at $55 million with Serco Limited, UK.[14][15] As part of this contract, Microland would continue to provide specialist support for a range of devices through an expanded team located in Birmingham, UK, and Bangalore, India.[16]

In 2012, Microland added Virtualization & Cloud Infrastructure Life Cycle Services (Design, Deploy & Management of Public, Private & Hybrid Clouds including Cloud Integration & Automation) to its portfolio and as part of this built partnerships with leading Cloud technology providers.[17]

On August 26, 2014, Microland completed 25 years of operation and marked its 25th anniversary. On December 2, 2014, Microland partnered with Computacenter in opening the Global Network Operations Centre (GNOC) at Bagmane Tech Park, Bangalore.[18]

In 2016, Microland set up its first offshore delivery center for ASG group, Australia in Bagmane Tech Park, Bangalore.[19]

Microland is headquartered in Ecospace, Bellandur, Bangalore with three other offices in Bangalore. It has client servicing and sales offices in India, North America, Australia, UK, Europe, Dubai and Saudi Arabia.[27]
