Michael Dean (born 1977) is a British artist, living and working in London, United Kingdom.[1] In 2016 he was shortlisted for the Turner Prize an effort for which he gained great attention with his work 'United Kingdom poverty line for two adults and two children: twenty thousand four hundred and thirty six pounds sterling as published on 1 September 2016 (installation).[2][3][4]
Dean's sculptural work is focused on typefaces.[4] He graduated from Goldsmiths, University of London in 2001 with a BA Fine Art (Studio Practice and Contemporary Critical Theory).[5]
Dean’s solo exhibitions include; Qualities of Violence at De Appel arts centre, Amsterdam (2015), Sic Glyphs at South London Gallery (2016),[6] Lost True Leaves at the Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas, Texas, U.S.A. (2016)[7] and Stamen Papers at Fondazione Giuliani, Rome (2016)
