Metepeira is a genus of orb-weaver spiders with about 40 described species. These are found from Argentina to Canada, including Caribbean islands.

Name

M. labryrinthea, hiding in its labyrinth

The genus name is derived from Ancient Greek μετά and the obsolete genus name Epeira, denoting a genus similar to Epeira.

Notes

The Metepeira Spinipes can be found on the coast of California and Mexico.[1]
