Merxat (simplified Chinese: 米热; traditional Chinese: 米熱; pinyin: Mĭrè; born 20 July 1991) is a Chinese actor of Uyghur descent, best known in television series for portraying Zhang Yizhi in Cosmetology High (2014), Tang Yigong in Deep Blue and Wu Geng in Zhao Ge

Biography

Early life

Merxat was born in Urumqi, Xinjiang, on July 20, 1991. He aspired to act from an early age. He entered Shanghai Theatre Academy in 2010, majoring in acting, where he studied alongside Dilraba Dilmurat.

Career

Merxat began his career as a fashion model at age 22, when he attended the Asian Sportsman Contest and came into the top 10, and signed with the agency Yu Zheng Studio.[1]

In January 2014, Merxat made his acting debut in Legend of Ban Shu, a historical television series starring Jing Tian, Zhang Zhehan, Li Jiahang, and Li Sheng. In March, he participated as Ouyang Che in the modern idol drama Love & Life & Lie.[2] In July, he was cast as Zhang Yizhi in the Yu Zheng Studio's production of Hunan Television's Cosmetology High. In August, he co-starred with Dilraba Dilmurat, Zhang Yijie, Yang Xuwen and Guan Xiaotong in the romance drama The Backlight of Love, adapted from Wang Liaoliao's novel of the same title, filmed in Hangzhou, Zhejiang.[3]

In April 2015, Merxat starred in the romantic comedy television series Above The Clouds, opposite Chen Xiao, Yuan Shanshan, Jiang Mengjie, and Guo Xiaodong.[4] In October, he played the character Tang Yigong in Deep Blue, costarring Lu Chen and Yang Xuwen.[5]

In June 2016, Merxat portrayed the lich king You Tong in the fantasy television series Demon Girl, an adaptation based on the novel of the same name by Mobai Qianjiu. In September, he co-starred with Zhang Zhehan, Wu Jinyan and Bao Jianfeng in Zhaoge, filming began on September 13, 2016, and it was scheduled for release in 2017.[6][7] In October, he appeared in Memory Lost, a crime thriller television series starring Yang Rong and Bai Yu.[8]

In 2017, Merxat was set to star as the lead role in the upcoming Untouchable Lovers produced by Yu Zheng, alongside Song Weilong and Guan Xiaotong.[9] And it was announced that Merxat was in talks to portray one of the male leads in The Legend of Yun Xi.[10]
