Merrick Hanna

Merrick William Hanna (born March 22, 2005) is a popping[1] and animation style dancer. He was featured on the Ellen Show,[2] participated in SYTYCD The Next Generation,[3] performed a lip sync on Lip Sync Battle Shorties,[4] and has been a performer in commercials for H&M, Honda Odyssey, Gap Kids, and more. Additionally, he also was featured on the 12th season of America's Got Talent. Receiving four "yes" votes from the judges, as well as advancing to the live show. As of the 21st of July 2017, the video depicting Merrick's audition clocked up over 11 million views on YouTube and trended #1[5].

Merrick has also acted as part of professional summer Shakespeare runs of Much Ado About Nothing[6] and A Winter's Tale[7].

Personal Life

Merrick lives in Encinitas, California[4] with his parents, Shawn and Aletha Hanna, as well as his brother, Sagan. Merrick was once an avid soccer player, making it as far as the A team. At age 9, however, he decided to stop playing and devote his time and energy to dancing instead. He regularly credits YouTube videos by dancers such as Poppin John for teaching him the ropes[8], as well as the lessons he took at his local YMCA. He also played the piano but now focuses on acting and dancing.
