Meng Hongwei (simplified Chinese: 孟宏伟; traditional Chinese: 孟宏偉; pinyin: Mèng Hóngweǐ; born November 1953) is a Chinese politician, police officer and the current president of the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL).
Biography
Meng was born in Harbin, Heilongjiang, China, in November 1953. He graduated from Peking University, where he majored in law.
Meng entered politics in December 1972.
Meng served as Deputy Minister of Public Security,[1][2][3] Director of the China Coast Guard.
On 18 March 2013, Meng was appointed Deputy Director of China's State Oceanic Administration. On 10 November 2016, he was elected as president of INTERPOL.[4]
