The golden-throated barbet (Psilopogon franklinii) is an Asian barbet. Barbets are a group of near passerine birds with a worldwide tropical distribution. They get their name from the bristles which fringe their heavy bills.

Characteristics

The bill is dark, and the body plumage is green, but the subspecies have different head patterns. The male’s territorial call is a very loud pukwowk.

The golden-throated barbet is resident in Nepal, India, Bhutan, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Laos, Vietnam and mainland China. It presence in Bangladesh is uncertain. It inhabits tropical and subtropical moist forests at elevations of 900 to 2,565 m (2,953 to 8,415 ft).[2]
