May Beenken
May Margaret Beenken (22 October 1901 – 21 December 1988) was an American mathematician.
Life
Beenken was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her parents were Sophie Kirn and Henry Beenken.[1]
Career
Beenken completed her PhD at the University of Chicago in 1928. Her doctoral advisor was Ernest Preston Lane and her thesis was titled Surfaces in Five-Dimensional Space.[2] She later became an instructor at Oshkosh Teacher's College.[1] She also served as a lecturer at the University of California, Los Angeles.[1]
