History

1990s

Maverick Aviation Group began in 1995 with just two aircraft. By July of 1996, the burgeoning company was operating daily aerial tours from Henderson Executive Airport to the Grand Canyon. The helicopter tour division, called Maverick Helicopters, was one of the first companies to offer such tours.

2000s

In 2003, Maverick Helicopters became one of the original buyers of the Eurocopter EC130. In February 2005, Maverick acquired AirStar Helicopter. Later, in October 2008, Maverick Aviation Group established a fixed wing division, operating under the name Maverick Airlines. Based out of Henderson Executive Airport, the airline division offers tours of the Grand Canyon aboard Beechcraft 1900 and Cessna 208 Caravan series aircraft. Also in 2008, Maverick established Mustang Helicopters, which provides helicopter tour services from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon. On September 3, 2009, Maverick Helicopters surpassed 100,000 flight hours utilizing EC130 Helicopters.

2010s

In February 2012, Maverick Helicopters became a launch customer for the EC130 T2, purchasing 10 of the new helicopters. Maverick signed an agreement to purchase 10 EC130 T2 helicopters with the option for 40 more, 50 in total. On March 3, 2013, Maverick logged a total of 300,000 total flying hours using EC130 series aircraft. In 2015, Maverick Aviation Group began flying sightseeing tours in Maui, Hawaii, under the brand of Maverick Helicopters Maui. From 2011 through 2016, Maverick Aviation Group was a recipient of the FAA Award of Excellence "Diamond Award" for participating in the FAA Aviation Maintenance Technician Awards Program. Maverick also earned the Helicopter Association International (HAI) Operator Safety Award.
