Matthew Worthy

Matthew Worthy is a British television Producer. He co-created the entertainment formats Secret Fortune and Take The Money and Run as part of a creative partnership with Kieran Doherty, while working for UK independent production company Wild Rover Productions. In 2014 Matthew Worthy & Kieran Doherty launched the production company Stellify Media as a joint venture with Sony Pictures Television.

Career

Worthy began his career at Granada Entertainment working as a researcher on Stars in Their Eyes, You've Been Framed and Celebrities Under Pressure. While working for Granada Kids on the show Jungle Run in 2005 – Worthy devised the show Scratch and Sniff's Den of Doom for CiTV.[1]

He joined Wild Rover Productions in 2006 to create the BBC One interactive quiz Get Smarter in a Week – and went on to consult on the international versions.[2] Worthy currently works in a creative partnership with Kieran Doherty at Wild Rover. Together they have created several international TV formats.[3] Worthy was the Producer of the first two series of Secret Fortune for BBC One.[4]

Stellify Media

In 2014 Matthew Worthy and Kieran Doherty launched the production company Stellify Media as a joint venture with Sony Pictures Television. They have offices in Belfast and London. Worthy and Doherty jointly executive produce all of Stellify Medias content. Their Shows include:

Can't Touch This

Can't Touch This a BBC television game show that aired on BBC One from 26 March to 8 October 2016. Produced by Stellify Media It was hosted by Zoë Ball and Ashley Banjo and was a huge physical action game show which started with a human catapult and ended with a terrifying two-storey jump for a car.

In Solitary

Executive produced by Matthew Worthy and Kieran Doherty, In Solitary is a Channel 5 show which sees contestants attempting to survive five days and nights in solitary confinement.

Beauty Queen and Single

Beauty Queen and Single aired in 2017 on BBC One. In this unique dating show, beauty queens who have had no luck with love go on a series of dates to find Mr. Right. However, in a dramatic make-under they dare to go bare and remove all make-up to see if they can find a connection that is more than skin deep.

Goodbye House

Screening in June 2017, Goodbye House is a show about siblings competing to find the perfect property for their parents - but are the parents choosing the best property or the favourite child?

Blind Date

Blind Date aired on the 17th June 2017 on Channel 5 in its usual Saturday night slot produced by Stellify Media and So Television. Hosted by the amazing Paul O’Grady, the world’s greatest dating show is back and ready for the 21st century. In each show two lucky singletons get to choose between three potential dates each - but they have no idea what these dates look like. Will it be love at first sight? Or will they not be able to stand the sight of each other?

Stellify Media have also produced an Irish version of the hit show, hosted by IFTA Award winning comedian Al Porter. Airing on TV3, the Stellify Media producers said of the show: "Blind Date is exactly the type of entertainment programming we want to produce – a compelling mix of humour, love and jeopardy, making it unmissable viewing for the whole family"[5]

Dara O’Briain’s School of Hard Sums

Secret Fortune

In 2008 Worthy and Doherty created the high-stakes quiz-show Secret Fortune.[6]

In 2010 the UK network broadcaster BBC commissioned a nine-part series of Secret Fortune for Saturday night BBC One. This series was broadcast in February 2011 – with viewing figures reaching over 7 million.[7] A second series was commissioned after just four episodes – and was filmed in May/June 2011.[8]

In 2011 US network broadcaster CBS commissioned a pilot of Secret Fortune – co-produced by Wild Rover Productions and Nigel Lythgoe, who is an Executive Producer of American Idol.[9]

The David Meade Project

In 2010 Worthy and Doherty created The David Meade Project, a four-part series featuring mentalist David Meade for BBC NI.[10] It aired in January 2011.[11] A second series of six episodes was commissioned by BBC NI in 2011 and will air in Autumn 2011. Both series are Executive Produced by Doherty.[10]

Take the Money and Run

In 2007 Worthy and Doherty created the high-stakes reality show Take the Money and Run.[12] A pilot was commissioned in by UK network broadcaster BBC in 2008.

In 2010 it was announced that Take the Money and Run received a six-episode order for show production by ABC with Jerry Bruckheimer as executive producer along with Amazing Race creators Bertram van Munster and Elise Doganieri.[13] This series will be broadcast in August 2011.[14]

Find Me The Funny

In 2008 Worthy and Doherty created the stand-up reality competition Find Me The Funny. A six-part series was broadcast by BBC One NI in 2009.[15]
