Maskiri, born Alishias Musimbe on 6 April 1980, is a Zimbabwean rapper. He was born in Chitungwiza, a residential town about 25 km out of Harare, where he grew up and attended Chemhanza Secondary School until being expelled for truancy and bullying other students. He was then enrolled in St. Aidens High School in Chitungwiza but refused to continue, saying: "St. Aidens was just dull. It lacked the joy I had found at other schools and I left. It was simply not interesting."

Maskiri raps in Shona. He is supposedly known by some as Africa' Eminem and has recently performed the song Africa with English pop artist Keisha White. This is one of the few songs performed by African musicians in collaboration with international musicians. <Maskiri music have just signed a new kid on the block Ramzeey , Ramzeey is a fast raising venda mc who sings in venda among other language currently he's working with maskiri on the double album Best of Both Worlds with the help of their new management Mr William Chisango aka Willies and Daddy Ish aka Ishmeal Mudavanhu Maskiri is also doing some finishing touches of his forthcoming album BreakThru which features a lot of international artist

Music videos

On Saturday 27 November 2010, Maskiri alongside fellow artist Nox Guni went on set to shoot visuals for Wenera, Maskiri's first ever music video which became top ZBC video of the year and won a NAMA. Wenera music video was directed by Chagwa Black and was shot on location in Pretoria, South Africa.[1]

Feuds and Controversy

Maskiri has supposedly been involved in numerous scandals. He claims to have broken his pelvis in 2005 after jumping from the third story of a building after being caught with someone else’s wife.

Maskiri released a new track with Tgonz entitled Tine Mskanzwa at Mo Saints Studio. It is unknown whether the track would be part of a new album or a single. He also worked with Collen Tapiwa Jonasi aka DJ Cee Jay, a Zimbabwe-born club DJ.
