Marta García Lopez (born 9 August 2000 in Denia) is a Spanish racing driver
Career
Karting
García began her karting career in 2009 at the age of nine. A year later, she began competing internationally, claiming major titles throughout, both in national and international level. In 2015, she was selected by the FIA Women in Motor Sport Commission to participate in the 2015 CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy, which she won.[1] In 2016, she finished 4th at the European CIK-FIA OK Championship. In December 2016, Garcia was ranked fourth on Motorsport.com's list of ten karting stars with a future in motor racing.[2]
Lower Formulae
In 2016, García made her single-seaters debut in the last four rounds of the Spanish F4 Championship with Drivex.[3] She was consistently in the points and finished ninth overall. In March 2017, it was confirmed García would contest the series full-time with MP Motorsport.[4]
Formula One
In March 2017, García was named as one of the 2017 recruits to the Renault Sport Academy.[5]
