Manor Farm, Diss

Manor Farm

Manor Farm, a property belonging to the Landmark Trust, is located at Pulham Market, near the town of Diss, in Norfolk, England.

Details

The manor house was built some time after 1597 by the Maltiward family.[1] In the early 18th century, the house was used for both farming and weaving, and unusually escaped the 16th century suppression of rural weaving by the Norfolk guilds.[1] Threatened by destruction in 1945, the house was bought by the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings and restored.[1] Bought by the Landmark Trust in 1979, it was restored again and re-thatched.[1] The remains of a former moat around the property can still be seen.[2] The house is a Grade II listed building.
