MYTEEN (Hangul: 마이틴) is a South Korean boy band formed by The Music Works in 2016 and debuted in 2017. The group debuted on July 27, 2017 with their lead single "Amazing" from debut extended plays MYTEEN Go!. The group consisted by seven members: Taevin, Chunjin, Eunsu, Xiheon, Junseob, Yuvin, and Hanseul.

History

Pre-debut

In May 2016, Music Works formally announced their plans to debut an 8-member[upper-alpha 1][upper-alpha 2] boy band called MYTEEN in 2017.[1][2][3] The group's name is a portmanteau of words "my" and "teenager" and reportedly meant that the group would be composed of idols who are vibrant and bright as teenagers.[2][upper-alpha 3] Former Superstar K6 contestant Yuvin became the first official member of the group.[3] The rest of the members were introduced on August 27 when MYTEEN opened for Baek Ji-young's concert titled "Andante", where they performed "Amazing" (Hangul: 어마어마하게), which would be part of their debut album.[4][5][6]

To further promote their group, MYTEEN performed at selected middle and high schools in each region of South Korea as part of their "Follow MYTEEN" tour between October and November 2016.[7][8] In January 2017, they held their first international fan meeting at Hong Kong[9] and had their first reality show Trainee Escape Project - MYTEEN Go! (Hangul: 연습생 탈출 프로젝트 - 마이틴 GO!) aired on MBC Music.[10][11]

2017: Debut with MYTEEN GO!

MYTEEN release their debut extended plays, MYTEEN GO! on July 26.[12]The album contains seven tracks, with the lead single titled "Amazing". On July 27, MYTEEN made their official debut stage on the music program M Countdown.
