The first was delivered to East Yorkshire Motor Services on a Volvo B5TL chassis.[1] Go-Ahead London ordered 85 on Volvo B5LH chassis, the first 20 entering service in April 2016 with London Central on routes 35 and 40.[2][3] In May 2016 Tower Transit ordered 51.[4]

In October 2016, First South Yorkshire commenced operating a demonstrator on route X78 between Doncaster and Sheffield.

In 2016, 21 open top Volvo B5TLs were purchased by Golden Tours in 2015/2016.[5][6]

Morebus run by go ahead in southern England ordered 12 of these for their Purbeck Breezer Routes. 3 are closed top, 3 are half open top and the other 6 are convertible open top.

East Yorkshire Motor Services have bought a further 18 in late 2016-2017
