M-segment
M-segment is a car classification defined by European Commission as multi purpose cars.[1] In the recent past, the M-segment segment was increasing in volume year over year in Europe; in 2015, it is consolidated as the fourth most popular segment (11,5% of the overall market after C-segment, J-segment and B-segment).[2]
These vehicles are commonly used for multi-tasking. This is especial with the models with removable seats (or simply folding flat) to transport objects around. Over the decades, they have gained popularity with large families whom formerly used station wagons to commute, with sliding doors being far more practical for entry and more room for the seats. Luxury MPVs have also emerged, these are popular in Japan, but are also heavily exported.
Other vehicles in this segment are entirely devoted to just transporting goods around, such as light commercial vehicles or leisure activity vehicles.
