Lugoff (pronounced Lew goff) is a small census-designated place (CDP) in Kershaw County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 7,434 as of the 2010 census. The population was nearly 85% rural in 2000. It is part of the Columbia, South Carolina Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Geography
Lugoff is located 5 mi (8.0 km) southwest of Camden, and 2.5 mi (4.0 km) west of the Wateree River.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 12.9 square miles (33 km2), of which 12.8 square miles (33 km2) is land and 0.1 square miles (0.26 km2) (0.54%) is water.

As of the census[1] of 2010, there were 7,434 people, 2,364 households, and 1,846 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 488.9 people per square mile (188.8/km²). There were 2,467 housing units at an average density of 192.1 per square mile (74.2/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 82.56% White, 15.45% African American, 0.29% Native American, 0.54% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 0.29% from other races, and 0.83% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.32% of the population.
There were 2,364 households out of which 40.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.1% were married couples living together, 13.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 21.9% were non-families. 19.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 5.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.65 and the average family size was 3.04.
In the CDP, the population was spread out with 29.0% under the age of 18, 6.8% from 18 to 24, 31.0% from 25 to 44, 23.8% from 45 to 64, and 9.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 90.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.4 males.
The median income for a household in the CDP was $49,000, and the median income for a family was $55,461. Males had a median income of $37,924 versus $26,875 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $20,883. About 5.3% of families and 8.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including 10.2% of those under age 18 and 12.4% of those age 65 or over.
