Lucas Michel Mendes (born 3 July 1990 in Curitiba, Paraná), more commonly known as Lucas Mendes, is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a left back but can also play as centre back for Qatari club Al-Duhail.

Club career

After four years at Coritiba, he signed for Marseille on 29 August 2012, for an undisclosed transfer fee. The 22-year-old has won two Paranaense state championships with the Alviverde and the club revealed the impending transfer on their website, though no financial details have been released. A product of the Coxa youth system, the Brazilian declared that although his love for the club ran deep, the chance to play in Europe was too good to resist. Lucas played 139 games for Coritiba, who will retain a 10 per cent sell on clause, and was also included among the preliminary names for the Olympic Brazil squad.

On 15 August 2014, the Qatari club has formalized the signature of Lucas Mendes. The defender of Marseille, was playing at OM since 2012 when he came from Cortiba for €2 million. Lucas Mendes' arrival in Qatar is now official. El Jaish announced on its website the signature of the defender. The amount of the transfer has not been revealed, but is estimated at €5 million.
