Logan Brown (born March 5, 1998) is an American ice hockey player. He is the son of former NHL defenceman Jeff Brown. He is currently playing with the Windsor Spitfires of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). He is a prospect of the Ottawa Senators after he was selected 11th overall by them in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. Brown was born in Raleigh, North Carolina, but grew up in Chesterfield, Missouri and went to Westminster Christian Academy.

Playing career

Junior

Brown played youth hockey in St. Louis and Indiana where his father was a coach.[1] He was selected by the Niagara IceDogs of the OHL in the first round (sixth overall) in the 2014 OHL Priority Selection. However, he was traded to the Windsor Spitfires for six draft picks after refusing to report to the Ice Dogs.[2][3] Brown skated at the NTDP Evaluation Camp, but ultimately decided to play in the Ontario Hockey League.

Professional

On August 19, 2016 Brown signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Senators.[4]

International play

While Brown played for Canada at the World U-17 Hockey Challenge in 2014, he chose to play with the USA for the 2016 IIHF World U18 Championships with four of his other St. Louis friends he grew up playing hockey with. Accordingly, Brown will play international hockey with Team USA for the remainder of his career.[5]

Personal

Brown was born in Raleigh, North Carolina while his father, Jeff Brown, played for the Carolina Hurricanes. He is a dual citizen of the USA and Canada.
