It has a mountainous terrain that covers more than 70% of its total territory. There are many peaks reaching heights of more than 2,000 metres (6,600 ft).

The highest summit is Korab 2,764 metres (9,068 ft) on the border with the Republic of Macedonia. It is one of only two summits in Europe, which are the highest point for more than one country.[1].
