Swedish military areas
Swedish military areas (Swedish: Militärområde, usually abbreviated to Milo) were multi-service commands of the Swedish Armed Forces. The commander of a military area, the Militärområdesbefälhavare (also militärbefälhavare), commanded the Swedish Army divisions stationed in the region, the regional naval command, the regional air defence sector as well as the lower regional subdivision defence areas that made up the military area. The commander answered directly to the Supreme Commander. The military areas in the modern form were created in 1966, and each area was named according to the geographical area they covered. Several changes were made, such as creating or merging areas, until all military areas were disbanded in 2000.

From 1966 to 1991:
- Milo ÖN, Övre Norrlands militärområde (Upper Norrland Military Area)
- Milo NN, Nedre Norrlands militärområde (Lower Norrland Military Area)
- Milo B, Bergslagens militärområde (Bergslagen Military Area)
- Milo Ö, Östra militärområdet (Eastern Military Area)
- MKG, Gotlands militärkommando (Gotland Military Command)
- Milo V, Västra militärområdet (Western Military Area)
- Milo S, Södra militärområdet (Southern Military Area)
After 1991:
- Milo M, Mellersta militärområdet (Middle Military Area) created in 1991 by merging Milo B, Milo Ö and MKG
- Milo N, Norra militärområdet (Northern Military Area) created in 1993 by merging Milo NN and Milo ÖN
- Milo S, Södra militärområdet (Southern Military Area) merged in 1993 with Milo V
