Lisa Jakub is a Canadian writer, speaker and former actress. She is best known for her role as Lydie Hillard in Mrs. Doubtfire.

Early life and career

Jakub was born on December 27, 1978 in Toronto, Ontario. She is of Slovak (father) and Welsh and Scottish (mother) descent. She attended multiple schools in her early life including Hillfield-Strathallan College.[1]

Her first role was in the 1985 film Eleni. She later appeared in Mrs. Doubtfire with Mara Wilson, Sally Field, Matthew Lawrence, and the late Robin Williams. She played Sandra in Matinee, appeared in A Pig's Tale and Independence Day, The Beautician and the Beast, and played the "inspiration" for Princess Leia in the short film George Lucas in Love. She starred in Picture Perfect (1995), and portrayed a bordello worker in the American Old West in Painted Angels (1997).

Personal life

When Jakub received the part of Lydia in Mrs. Doubtfire, her school expelled her.[2]

After retiring from acting in 2001 at the age of 22,[3] Jakub moved to Virginia and married longtime partner, a former Hollywood theater manager, Jeremy Jones.[4]

Jakub has publicly stated that she has no plans to return to acting.[5] She has since authored a book You Look Like That Girl which was released on June 30, 2015.[6]
