Lisa Heller (born April 16, 1996) is an American singer-songwriter and musician from Simsbury, Connecticut. She achieved global recognition after the release of her song "Hope" along with its video, which trended first on YouTube in Sweden, Canada, Ireland, Finland, Denmark, Australia, and Italy. The song and video premiered on Twist Magazine June 24, 2016.[1]
Early life
Heller was born in Connecticut, the first daughter of Wendy (Loeb) Heller and David Heller. She has a younger sister and brother who grew up in Simsbury with her. Heller's father is from Westport, Connecticut, and her mother is from West Hartford, Connecticut. She graduated from Simsbury High School on June 17, 2014.
Career
Early career
Heller entered her first song into the American Songwriting Awards right after her high school graduation. During the summer of 2014, Heller co-wrote songs with Jim McGorman. Heller flew out to Los Angeles in late August 2014 to record her first four-song EP at Sunset Sound Factory and The Sound Factory in Hollywood, California. Heller started college at Colgate University in August 2014, studying psychology. The first song Heller had written, "Close Your Eyes", had been recognized in the Performance Category of the American Songwriting Awards. She received the award at the red carpet event at the Grand Central Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Heller then opened for the band, American Authors at a 96.5 TIC Acoustic Cafe Event on December 12. Heller released her first single, "Life on the Run" on April 16. Heller interned at RCA Records of Sony Music for the summer of 2015. She performed at the Rockwood Music Hall in New York, New York on August 9, 2015.
2016: Major success with Hope, creation of the Hope Wall
Heller recorded four original songs over winter 2015-2016. Heller was invited to open for Rachel Platten at the 96.5 TIC Acoustic Cafe on May 31, 2016, where she had the chance to connect with Rachel and her drummer afterwards. In the weeks leading up to her single, "Hope", Lisa reached out to a few individuals going through particularly hard times. This led to the creation of the "Hope Wall" where people all over the world have submitted their stories of courage and bravery to be featured on Lisa's wall of hope. The release of her single, "Hope" was on June 24, 2016, with a video premiere on Twist Magazine the same day.[1] The song has achieved global success, topping the coveted YouTube Trending charts in over 5 countries.[2]
2017: Things You Never Said, Midnight, Continuation of success
Heller then released "Things You Never Said" March 17, 2017 which has been posted on multiple music blogs and outlets. She also released her lyric music video for the song through her official YouTube page.

Personal life
When Lisa was 18 years old, she was diagnosed with vocal cord dysfunction. She notice she had this when she stated "I was in the middle of running a race and my throat started closing up," she continued to say "I wasn't sure what was happening, but I couldn't get the air in." in which she had collapse right near the finish line. Which her doctors advised her to hum or sing during her races.[3]
