Lincoln is a city in Tama County, Iowa, United States. The population was 162 at the 2010 census. Before 1920, the community was known as Berlin.

Lincoln is located at 42°15′45″N 92°41′31″W / 42.26250°N 92.69194°W / 42.26250; -92.69194 (42.262495, -92.691863).[5]

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.46 square miles (1.19 km2), all of it land.[2]

2010 census

As of the census[3] of 2010, there were 162 people, 68 households, and 47 families residing in the city. The population density was 352.2 inhabitants per square mile (136.0/km2). There were 81 housing units at an average density of 176.1 per square mile (68.0/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 99.4% White and 0.6% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 4.3% of the population.

There were 68 households of which 27.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.9% were married couples living together, 11.8% had a female householder with no husband present, 4.4% had a male householder with no wife present, and 30.9% were non-families. 27.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.38 and the average family size was 2.91.

The median age in the city was 39.3 years. 28.4% of residents were under the age of 18; 7.5% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 20.4% were from 25 to 44; 32.2% were from 45 to 64; and 11.7% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was 50.0% male and 50.0% female.

2000 census

As of the census[7] of 2000, there were 182 people, 75 households, and 51 families residing in the city. The population density was 396.3 people per square mile (152.8/km²). There were 90 housing units at an average density of 195.9 per square mile (75.5/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 98.35% White, 1.65% from other races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.65% of the population.

There were 75 households out of which 29.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.3% were married couples living together, 6.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.7% were non-families. 28.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 18.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.43 and the average family size was 2.92.

In the city, the population was spread out with 25.8% under the age of 18, 6.0% from 18 to 24, 26.4% from 25 to 44, 19.2% from 45 to 64, and 22.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 93.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.7 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $33,750, and the median income for a family was $39,750. Males had a median income of $28,250 versus $22,000 for females. The per capita income for the city was $14,313. About 13.7% of families and 15.5% of the population were below the poverty line, including 26.3% of those under the age of eighteen and 7.1% of those sixty five or over.
