Leonid Zakovsky

Leonid Zakovsky (Latvian: Leonīds Zakovskis, originally named Henriks Štubis; 1894 – August 29, 1938) was an ethnic Latvian NKVD Commissar 1st Class of State Security (equivalent to the Soviet Red Army rank of Komandarm 1st rank). He was born Henriks Štubis in Kreis Hasenpoth in present-day Latvia, which was then part of the Russian Empire. He was a recipient of the Order of Lenin (1937), the Order of the Red Banner and the Order of the Red Star (1936). He was executed on the order of Mikhail Frinovsky during the Great Purge.
